Our photography classes in Manhattan, New York City, are made fun and affordable while providing expert training in photography since 2003, for all levels — beginners, amateurs and advanced.

PhotoManhattan also provides online photography classes, private lessons, certificates of completion (by request), student ID’s, free photography studio meet-ups, best rated curricula and much more.

Photo classes are offered during weekends, evenings, and summers. Conveniently located at 14th street between 5th and 6th Avenues in Manhattan, if you are coming from Brooklyn, Queens, or the Bronx, exit at the 14th St train stop.   • Digital Photography II – Complete Composition & Image Design Guide

    Photography Classes NYC - Central park in B&W Go from beginner into intermediate. The key of this course is to guide you to efficiently and seamlessly control and manipulate the overall look of your images to your liking while gaining speed in shooting without being held back by the technicalities of the camera. This course will include plenty of fun experimentation and shooting practice of concepts such as high keys, low keys, back light and much more. 15 -18 hours.
  • Landscape Photography I

    Capture those elusive scenic moments the way you see them, or the way you want to see them. This outdoor course focuses on honing your compositional skills specifically for landscapes and cityscapes. Learn the most savvy techniques that will turn your landscape images into outstanding ones. 8-10 hours.

  • Street Photography I

    Photography Classes NYC - Central park in B&W

    Shoot on the ground in New York City in a course built on intensive hands-on photo field trips. Sessions will consist of realtime, outdoor shooting, learning the ins and outs of city-scape composition, environmental portraiture useful for travel photography and manipulating natural light. 10-12 hours.

  • Photo Journalism & Documentary I

    “" From street photography, now to documentary and photojournalism. Study the work of the greats and bring those ideas and techniques into your own photography and story telling. 15-18 hours.

  • Film & B&W Photography Classes

    If you are looking for film photography classes in NYC, or a Black & White photo course, look no further! Having one of the last available darkrooms in Manhattan, we can teach analog photography, the basics of printing, B&W photography and all of the fundamentals in one place. 6 hours.

  • Portraiture

    An in-depth exploration of portrait photography from its history to the trends of today. Learn the techniques and tools necessary to produce images from client=based head shots to documentary portraits, including natural and artificial lighting techniques, posing and directing your subject. 15-18 hours.

  • Wedding / Event Photography

    Be guided through the entire process of shooting wedding photography. Topics include wedding and location preparation, working with equipment, shooting techniques and styles, lighting & posing and the business end of the event. Content covered will also be applicable to event photography. 10-12 hours.

  • TTL Flash

    Thorough training is provided for using flash in various modes from Automatic, TTL, through to Manual. Students will learn savvy techniques for setting up creative lighting. 8-10 hours.

  • Studio & Lighting

    Manipulate lighting to achieve precise results. Experiment and understand the techniques for creative imagery in portraiture and still life and product photography. Professional lighting equipment will be provided each class of this tutorial. 12-14 hours.

  • Product Photography – The Fundamentals

    This crash course will provide you with quick and efficient tricks to make the best product photo images using simple equipment, including iPhone-only. Recommended for those of you looking to improve the photos of your a blog, website or presentation, as well as for any size business looking to produce great images of small products such as crafts, apparel and textile, jewelry and flowers, food items, or services. Topics will include DYI home studio setup, lighting and shooting as well as tools to expand your branding and marketing, expedite productivity, and save time and production costs in the short and long term.

  • Food Photography

    For an ever-increasingly popular genre of photography, this course will take you through the techniques to create beautiful and delicious food photographs. Learn the do’s and don’ts of what might seem like a simple shot, but is actually a thought-out and meticulous process. 6-8 hours.

  • Lightroom I

    Lightroom Photography classes NYC - Empire State building Lightroom is a comprehensive application that allows you to organize, optimize and share your photography. This is designed to introduce you to the Lightroom workflow. 8-10 hours.

  • Creative Photography – Color, Lighting & Beyond

    You know the "rules" of photography, now we break them. Experiment and expand your creativity to develop your own style. This course will explore advanced lighting, color filters, pattern, texture, image design, history of photography and more. 16-18 Hours.

  • The Art & Business of Photography

    A thorough and hands-on training in the fields related to commercial and artistic photography, including architectural photography and still life. This course will also include the practicalities of the business of photography from copyrighting to portfolio creation through to publishing. 15-18 hours.

  • Photoshop I

    Learn how to fine-tune your pictures through post-processing. Start your editing journey with topics including brightness and contrast, color balance, levels, curves, clone stamp, filters and more. 8-10 hours.

  • Photoshop II

    Take your Photoshop fundamentals further. Work with masks, curves and Photoshop tools for localized image adjustments and fine tuning. 8-10 hours.
