This seminar is designed for those of you looking to
learn the techniques necessary to produce unique and captivating

Students will review various samples of 'regular' street
shots and will have a thorough analysis of the various
compositional techniques that could be applied to improve
each of them. Topics include lighting, focus, background,
angle and perspective, the rule of thirds, and the decisive
moment, and the do's and dont's of compostion. At the
end of the class, students are given a series of specific
assignments focusing on each technique, so that they can
apply what they learned. This practical work also allows
students to start developing their own compositional skills.
This one-day seminar is open to all levels. It is applicable
to all fields of photography. Use of a manual camera is
recommended but not required. Note, If you are enrolled
in our Introduction to Photography you don't need this
seminar, as this material will be covered during your

automatic (TTL) and manual flash modes, including guide
numbers and exposure compensation. Flash techniques that
will be discussed include bouncing flash, fill flash,
flash diffusion, and shutter dragging. Also covered will
be special effects techniques like vignetting, stroboscopic
flash, and high-speed sync. Requirements:A basic understanding
of manual camera functions is helpful but not essential.
Please note: the seminar covers only portable off-camera
flash; that is, a battery-powered flash that can be removed

up to 3 strobes. Students will be assigned to work on
