The lesson is based on the material taught in our Intro to Photography classes. Student may choose to start from the most basic subjects such as camera options, or start off at the more intermediate topics such as composition and lighting.(digital &/or film cameras).One person: $65 per hour. Two
people: $85 p/h. Members: 10% discount on total.
Camera Use, Exposure control, Focus, Photo-composition,
Basic Portrait and Lighting, and Documentary techniques.
Once the class is scheduled our tutor will customize
the subjects according to your specific needs and
interests.
Minimum 2 hours, 40% deposit to book. Requirement: camera with manual mode option.
Digital Camera Settings
These sessions were designed for those of you who
have a good understanding of the basic photography
but are looking to understand settings that are specific to digital cameras.One person: $65 per hour. Two
people: $85 p/h.Members: 10% discount on total.
These
private lessons will be based on the material taught
in our "Digital Camera Settings"
seminar: Camera settings, file formats, image quality, card and card readers, white balance, and an overall understanding
of digital workflow.
On the first class our tutor will customize the subjects
according to your specific needs and interests including
more advanced Photoshop techniques. Requirements:
Exposure knowledge. For First class please have your
digital camera with fresh batteries.
Minimum 2 hours, 40% deposit to book.
Photoshop
From beginner photoshop to advanced. If you have never used Photoshop before this is a good way to get started!. If you already know how to edit your photos, you will improve your retouching skills, whether you use levels, curves, JPEG or RAW.One person: $70 per hour. Two
people: $100 p/h. Members: 10% discount on total.
Private sessions will start off by following our Photoshop courses' syllabi. Thereafter, instructor and Student will customize each lesson so that it best matches the student's interest.
Unless otherwise specified, beginners will start with
Contrast & Color adjustment using Levels, Cropping, Sharpening, Noise control, and Saving settings for various outputs. Requirement: Computer knowledge is a must. PhotoManhattan will provide an Apple laptop with Photoshop CS3. If you wish to bring your own laptop, please specify which version of Photoshop you have. Please specify what you are looking to learn in the area provided.
Studio
& Lighting
These sessions are designed to provide technical help,
specifically on lighting techniques and photo studio
equipment usage. (digital &/or film cameras). One person: $70 per hour. Two
people: $100 p/h.Members: 10% discount on total.
Student must bring a sample of a
photograph with the lighting effect he/she wishes
to achieve and our tutor will guide him through the
set up and photo techniques. The session may also
consist primarily on the use of the equipment and/or
can be based on our Studio & Lighting class material.
Equipment used includes: 4 flash
heads, umbrellas, barn doors, soft box, reflector,
honey grid combs, snoot and flash meter. Studio space:
500sf. Requirement: Photo exposure experience
(aperture/shutter speed) and one photo shoot to work
on .Minimum 2 hours. 40% deposit required.
Portable Flash
Our knowledgeable instructors will help you figure out the ins and outs of your flash. You can choose to learn as little or as much about your flash as you find necessary. (digital &/or film cameras).One person: $70 per hour. Two
people: $100 p/h.Members: 10% discount on total..
For these sessions we need to know your flash and
camera's specific brand and model so that the instructor
can know the compatibility options between the two.
You might choose to learn: Manual options, Automatic
options or both. Requirement: Photo exposure experience
(aperture/shutter speed). Minimum 2 hours. 40% deposit
required.
Darkroom
For this sessions, PhotoManhattan's darkroom will be made available to you and your instructor. You may choose to learn darkroom from scratch, improve your existing method, or learn more creative techniques. One person: $65 per hour.
Two people: $85 p/h. Members: 10% discount on total.
The lesson is based on the material taught in
our Darkroom I classes:
Film processing, Printing on 8X10 and 11X14, Push
and pull processes, and Contrast control. Once the
class is scheduled our tutor will customize the
subjects according to your specific needs and interests.
Minimum 2 hours, 40% deposit to book.
Other
If you are looking for a different class than those above, please provides us with a detailed description of what you are looking to learn. You and your instructor will then customize your class according to your specifications.Use the "Confirm availability" form below. One person: $65 per hour.

Please come to class with all of your questions handy. Also bring with you samples of photographs you like. Be ready to describe what you would like to achieve in general.Minimum
